Still Running Windows 10? Plan to upgrade before October!
We want to remind you about an important upcoming deadline. Windows 10 is reaching its end of life soon, and it’s time to start planning your upgrade to Windows 11.
Why Upgrade?
Windows 11 offers many new features and improvements that make it a great choice for your business. It has better security, faster performance, and a more user-friendly interface. Upgrading will ensure that you continue to receive updates and support from Microsoft.
What Happens When Windows 10 Ends?
When Windows 10 reaches its end of life, Microsoft will stop providing updates and support for it. This means no more security patches, which can leave your systems vulnerable to threats. Upgrading to Windows 11 will keep your systems secure and up-to-date.
Not Sure Which Version You’re on?
Microsoft has automatically upgraded many systems. To check if your system has been updated, follow these steps:
- Open Settings: First, try clicking this link: Open Windows Settings, that link will automatically take you to the settings page described next when you’re using Windows 8, 10 or 11.
Otherwise if the link does not work, right-click the four squares in the bottom left hand-corner, this is the Windows logo, click “System” 4 or 5 options down from the top; next scroll down to the very bottom where it says “About”! - Looking for the Windows Version: There will be a section labeled “Windows specifications”. This section will show your current Windows version. If it says “Windows 11”, you’re all set!
How to Prepare for the Upgrade
- Check Compatibility: Make sure your devices meet the system requirements for Windows 11. Microsoft has a good write-up on that here: How to check your device – Microsoft
- Backup Your Data: Before upgrading, back up all important data to avoid any loss.
- Plan the Upgrade: Schedule the upgrade at a time that minimizes disruption to your business or personal needs.
